FLORENT ATEM FEATURED ON MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO'S NEW ALBUM

Tahitian guitarist and two-time Grammy nominee Florent Atem is featured on guitar virtuoso Michael Angelo Batio's new studio record, entitled Intermezzo, which has just been released. Special guests also include George Lynch, Guthrie Govan, Joe Stump, Jeff Loomis, Rusty Cooley and many other exciting players. Florent's two contributions to the album include both a guest guitar solo as well as a track based on his signature "slide picking" technique, which he surprisingly performs by himself on Batio's new record.

     Florent's quite unusual approach to the instrument – which consists in sliding the pick from one string to the next on the fingerboard in order to cause the strings to vibrate and produce notes – has been featured in various magazines around the world, including "Guitar Player" and "Guitar World" in the United States. Many great players, such as Jennifer Batten, Mattias Ia Eklundh or Ron Thal from Guns N' Roses, have praised this unorthodox technique for its originality. Florent also teaches it at his clinics around the world and was recently asked to take part in the first-ever TEDx conference in Tahiti to discuss music and artistic innovation.
